Dog Bites

Each year approximately 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs in the United States. It is estimated that 1,000 people in America visit the emergency room each day due to dog bite injuries.

Dog bites often result in severe injury, and even death, especially if the dog bites a child. Because of the potential dangers, New Jersey imposes strict liability for dog bites. In other words, there is no “one bite rule” in New Jersey. If you are bitten by a dog or any other animal, you are entitled to compensation for your injuries.

• Photograph the area in which the attack occurred.
• Collect contact information from all witnesses of the dog attack.
• Do not sign anything from the dog owner, insurance company, or anyone else involved in the attack.
